“Yea, I see a place where little boys and girls are shells in the oceans not knowin they a pearl. No one to hold ‘em while they growin, they livin’ moment to moment without a care in the whole world. Now, if I could help it I tell it just like it is and I may say some things that you don’t like to hear. I know this: that people lie, people kneel, people die, people heal, people steal, and people shed tears. What’s real, blood spills, gun kill, the sun still - rise.”—Talib Kweli (via stellablu)
Nothing is more pleasant than listening to someone express so passionately feelings they have towards something they worked so hard to teach.
Sal Castro co-author of Blowout was at my school today giving a lecure on public schools and how there aren’t enough spanish surnames in our textbook besides Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Wow they even named a school after him (Castro, that is) He was such a charismatic speaker, really makes one want to strive & push against all odds.
There were a few of his former students in the audience, all of whom looked up to him and recognized him as their role model.
“People travel to wonder
at the height of the mountains,
at the huge waves of the seas,
at the long course of the rivers,
at the vast compass of the ocean,
at the circular motion of the stars,
and yet they pass by themselves
without wondering.”—St. Augustine of Hippo (via stellablu)
I want to become a better person..everyones definiton is different but I just want to be a better me in every situation and aspect of my life. What steps could I take in actually making this desire reality
“You build your world around someone, and then what happens when he disappears? Where do you go- into pieces, into atoms, into the arms of another man? You go shopping, you cook dinner, you work odd hours, you make love to someone else on June nights. But you’re not really there, you’re someplace else where there is blue sky and a road you don’t recognize. If you squint your eyes, you think you see him, in the shadows, beyond the trees. You always imagine that you see him, but he’s never there. It’s only his spirit, that’s what’s there beneath the bed when you kiss your husband, there when you send your daughter off to school. It’s in your coffee cup, your bathwater, your tears. Unfinished business always comes back to haunt you, and a man who swears he’ll love you forever isn’t finished with you until he’s done.”—Alice Hoffman (via atomos)
Hate that I do so much for you & you repay me with crap, I buy you everything you desire, drive you anywhere, let you use my car anytime you ask, let you borrow anything, give you advice, give you so much and here you are breaking my car tail light, breaking my keychain, throwing my phone around, breaking lamps, breaking the garage remote, this is the real world, News Flash! you’re about to be 18!! “adults” don’t act on emotions you have to contain yourself & think logically. People walk on eggshells around you & for you…you can’t have certain food, you can’t do certain things our whole family places you at the center. You’re nuts & frankly I can’t stand you.
“The first step - especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money - the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art.”—Chuck Palahniuk (via stellablu)
